ChamberStart Initiative

Launching strong, credible, and sustainable Chambers of Commerce worldwide.

Developing New Leaders

The Chamber Start Initiative is a structured, cohort-based program developed by the Federation of Haitian Chambers of Commerce to support the creation, formalization, and long-term success of Chambers of Commerce in emerging and developing regions. This initiative equips local business leaders with the governance, legal, operational, and strategic tools needed to build chambers that are trusted, compliant, and built to last.

What Is the ChamberStart Initiative?

The Chamber Start Initiative is a capacity-building and technical assistance program designed for organizations that are starting a chamber of commerce or working to strengthen an existing one. Participants move through a guided process that covers governance, compliance, leadership development, financial sustainability, and member services.

Rather than operating in isolation, participating organizations gain access to proven frameworks, expert guidance, and a global network of chambers working toward the same goal: building credible institutions that effectively serve business communities and promote economic growth.

Who This Program Is Designed For

This initiative is open to organizations at various stages of development, including:

Emerging or newly formed Chambers of Commerce
Informal business associations seeking to formalize into a chamber
Developing chambers, generally 0 to 5 years in operation
Regional, diaspora, or sector-based business organizations working toward chamber status

Organizations do not need to be Haitian or Haitian-led to participate. The program is open to qualified organizations globally that align with the mission and standards of FHCC.

What Participants Gain

Organizations accepted into the Chamber Start Initiative receive:

  • Recognition and credibility through alignment with FHCC
  • Guidance on governance structure and legal formalization
  • Support in developing sustainable membership and revenue models
  • Access to a global network of chambers and chamber leaders
  • Ongoing technical assistance throughout the program
  • Eligibility for Federation membership upon successful completion

This is about building chambers the right way, with clarity, accountability, and long-term viability.
